Sod was laid on Hole 9 this week using a hybrid bermudagrass "Tiftuf". The agronomy team will be working diligently during grow-in to get the surrounds down to height and in a playable condition. The addition of a bentgrass collar was also installed around the greens edge which will act as a buffer to combat bermudagrass encroachment into our greens. We are very happy with the sod quality and will be putting our full effort into maintaining our new features.
After the sod was laid, the sand was spread in the bunkers to the proper depths, watered heavily, and compacted with a vibratory plate compactor to help condition the sand.
Before the sod was laid, our team aerified the surrounds to help relieve post construction compaction and integrate the sand cap into the clay soils. This process gives the newly planted sod a better chance to shoot roots through these channels as well as blend the clay soils with a mix of sand.
