Hole 9- Bunker sand and sand cap

New bunker sand was installed into the driving range and Hole 9 bunkers. Once sod is installed, the sand in the bunkers will be spread to the appropriate depths and compacted with a vibratory compactor. It is important to note that bunker sand takes time to settle and condition to feel. Initially, the sand may feel fluffy and shifty underfoot, but over time it will begin to condition itself through irrigation, weather, etc.

The old sand that was removed from our original bunkers is now repurposed as the final grade on our green surrounds and gives the sod a fresh base of sand to root through before hitting our clay soil. This is known as a "sand cap".
